Im from Maine. I get gnarly outside almost every day. When searching for a new piece to add to my collection I look for serious function, quality, and a flattering fit. For me, being feminine is about fitting my subtle curves. You will almost never find me wearing pink! There is a definite tomboy edge to my outdoor style and I strongly believe that using the right gear can make or break your outdoor experience.

2010 New Balance MT573
Here are two views of the New Balance 573. I bought these for hikes and excursions without a lot of pack weight. They are very lightweight (about 8 oz.) and incredibly breathable because of they're synthetic mesh upper. The inner heel has various cushioning materials that prove to be very supportive, I jumped off huge boulders going downhill and felt little to no impact or shock to my precious feet. While the inside of these sneakers are like a walk in the clouds, the outside are rugged and strong. The aggressive lugged out sole gives epic traction with a concave heel and tiny teeth that literally grip everything! I felt like spider woman navigating quickly through boulder gardens and literally sticking to each rock face. The traction is still effective on wet surfaces like creeks and river bottoms, but take caution when encountering moss and mud. They do dry relatively quickly after being completely submerged in water so don't be afraid too cross the river!
I have used these to jog around Back Bay and the East End Trail. They work alright because of the breathability but are a bit too heavy in the heel. I am now looking for something more minimalist and lightweight for running. Since they are last year's style they were only $50 at The Sports Authority. I'm a big fan of New Balance footwear because they offer a low-key technical style, and mellow color schemes for women. They also have a larger toe box which leaves room for your toes to stretch, breathe, and separate. I most def recommend these kicks. I am super stoked to use them on July 23, 2011 for the Sunday River Tough Mountain Challenge.

2010 Patagonia Better Sweater Jacket
Over the past year I have discovered the epicness of the Patagonia Company. Each new item I bring into my life brings me an overwhelming amount of joy and happiness. I just scored this "fleece" from the outlet store in Freeport over Memorial Day weekend. Here is a hint to everyone who doesn't have endless funds, Freeport has wonderful outlet stores including Patagonia. The already reasonable prices are usually marked down a bit, and every Memorial Day weekend they take an extra 40% off of the already marked down price. I got this beauty that was originally priced at $129.00 for $50.00! The endorphins that come with saving money while shopping could keep me on cloud nine for at least a week.
This jacket is like nothing i have ever experienced. It is lined with polyester fleece that is warm and moisture wicking which is really important to me because I am Sicilian and sweat like no other. The outside of the coat is a gorgeous knit sweater that takes this fleece from frumpy to sophisticated in 0 seconds. The fit is amazing, the jacket literally molds and comforms to my curvy feminine shape, and is incredibly slimming in the arms. My favorite thing about the fit, is that when I zip the jacket up, instead of smashing my C-cups flat, the jacket pulls them in and lies smoothly over them giving me a gorgeous rack and accentuated waist making me feel like the goddess i am!
I recently wore this coat on a little speedboat cruising fast around casco bay. It wasnt completely wind proof but definitely kept me warm and cozy while braving the treacherous waves. I am in love with this jacket!
